Comment: Jason: Thanks for your very well written and
well researched articles. I have been coming out of Apostolic/Pentecostalism
for about 5 years now. I am still in a UPC church (am on paid staff there)
but we have been teaching all the subjects on your website to our church.
One of these days the district boys will "help us" to leave the organization
I imagine. For now we are trying to influence and bring about change from
within.

Comment: Thank you so much for your article on Whether the Bible Says it is
Wrong for Women to Cut Their Hair. Just last week, I cut my hair rather
short, but in a style that my husband likes very much. Later the same week,
I was confronted by a fellow Christian who challenged me to read the
Corinthians and discuss with my husband cutting my hair, since it was a sin
in the eyes of God. Your article helped me articulate a proper response; in
fact, I am printing it out to share with her. Thank you

Comment: Jason,
I came across your site while researching Deut.22:5
online today. I just want to encourage you by saying that your article on
this verse and the subject of pants is one of the best treatments of the
issue I have ever seen. Keep up the good work!

Comment: Hello,
I discovered this website when searching the internet
for information on Pentecostal standards. I have been a UPC Pentecostal for
my whole life, but I now no longer believe in the holiness standards that
the church maintains. I would like to explore other options for churches to
attend. I believe in the UPC doctrine without the holiness standards. What
are some religious organizations that fit this description, and what is a
good way to find such a church? Any information that you can provide would
be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Comment: I have always battled on that issue, and I
think my problem has been that I was overly concerned with earrings…every
time I passed through a shop and saw a good pair over the window one way or
the other I would have to have so I believe God really doesn’t want for us
to be so...I 'd say obsessed with our looks such that we end up being vain
and boastful as we begin to worship ourselves when His will is for us to
worship Him and Him alone. It’s just like money people can become so
obsessed with it that they forget their maker. So Glory be to God at least
you looked at most of the scriptures concerning jewelry instead of looking
at just one verse …may the good Lord Bless you and bless you indeed…
Thank you
Precious

Comment: Hi, I am a teenager who has been wearing
skirts all my life. Recently, I began researching whether God intended on
men and women being restricted to a certain type of clothing. After reading
this article, I was more enlightened. Thanks to you, my suspicions are
confirmed.

Comment: Hi,
I agree with your comments that the Bible does not
outrightly condemn the use of jewelry and that it should not take priority
over a good character. But ask almost anyone that uses it why they do and
whether they will choose to live life without it and you will hear there are
deeper reasons and that they will probably not choose to live without it and
become extremely defensive for whatever reason and that is idolatry.

Comment: Hello,
I have to say I am very intrigued with your articles.
I don't believe that I have ever read something that I so totally agreed
with. I think you have some very deep insight and probably have personal
experience. I would love to know more about your background and read more
of your studies. I have for several years been of similar mind after
studying these very same issues. I generally think it just plain ignorance
for these mindsets you are discussing and it is destroying some of the
church "my people perish for lack of knowledge". I was raised UPC so I have
intimate knowledge and I come from a long line of ministers in the church.
I am married to a UPC girl whose father is a minister in the UPC church
currently. I appreciate you confronting these issues and would love to be
able to help so if you ever need any help please let me know. I would love
further correspondence.
Thanks,
Barry

Comment: Excellent article. This is just what I was
wanting to express, but you did a much better job. May I have permission to
post on my blog? How about print to give?
Thanks in advance.

Comment: I sent you a comment on your article of pants
being sinful for women or not, and would like to also note that I read the
articles on Hair and jewelry, and am equally as pleased! I am so excited to
see a web site that not only gives unbiased opinions, but gives definitions
to key words, and a historical overview also. It's refreshing to know that
I don't have to just take your word for it, but you have the proof to back
up what you are saying. Thank you for doing what you do!
Love in Christ,

Comment: I have just read your article "Abuse of
Authority in the Church." Could you please give your Biblical opinion of
what the people of the Church should/can do if the Pastor is "Lording it
over the people" How can one submit to that kind of authority if it is
turning people away from not just the Church, but God also. Is this man
answerable to anyone............or is God the only one who has the authority
to do anything?
Many thanks and look forward to your reply.

Comment: Thank you, Thank you for the articles that you
have wrote on certain subjects. I have come out of a very strict church that
teaches so many things that you have talked about. I have lived in fear for
a few years now because I wear pants, wear a little jewelry, and wear a
little make-up that I thought I was going to hell. I am so pale and have
dark circles under my eyes that I looked awful. I wear pants now because of
my age and I get cold in the winter but also I am a nursing assistant and
they are so much nicer when I take care of my residents. Thank you for these
articles. I love the Lord with all my heart and I am not doing these in
rebellion. I know that the church I went to think I am going to hell now.
They always taught that you had to wear your hair on top of your head and I
never did because I didn't like it that way. That is not in scripture. God
bless you... Keep the articles coming.

Comment: God's Word speaks for itself. Why do you add
men's opinions to what God has already established? We are not to conform to
the world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. You are guilty
of misleading people by changing what God has left on record for us. Sin is
sin no matter who it's in, intentionally or unintentionally. God said all
liars, not some, not the ones who don't mean to lie, but all. To say women
can cut their hair, when the Bible plainly says it is a covering for them is
to be in error. My prayer is that you find the truth of God's Word. You seem
to be confused in what the Bible says. May I suggest The Gospel Trumpet?
They preach the Word of God without carnal judgment.

Comment: Hello, I am a 40 year old father, who has been raised in a
church/organization that teaches against the cutting of women's hair. Though
I have heard this "no-cut" interpretation all my life, I have never really
totally understood the passage to mean exactly what I have been taught. Some
have even tied it to salvation. While raising 3 daughters, this issue has
obviously taken on a new importance in my household. So, it became
extremely important to me to research this passage for myself, get some real
answers, and come to a true knowledge of this issue. The last thing I want
to happen is to drive a wedge between God and my kids, over something not
true or irrelevant to our Christian walk. When I stumbled across your site,
I somewhat cautiously approached your study on hair, as well as the other
issues you address. I had to send you this comment to say that for the first
time in my life the passage from Corinthians completely makes sense to me.
It is finally logical when you understand the context…

Comment: Excellent article on Abuse of Authority in the
Church. It is short, sharp and punchy and mirrors my own beliefs,
which of course is why I like it. There is so much authority abuse in
fellowships today, that someone has to hold high the banner, and bring
everything back into the correct biblical perspective.
This article does it for me, there are just too many "Diotrephes"
around today as I have experienced.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Gregg

Comment: To Whom It May Concern:
I cannot thank you enough for your valuable insight
into the subject of uncut hair on women and the use of make-up and jewelry
as it relates to God's Word. I have been struggling with these issues for
the last 5+ years as I got involved with the Pentecostal church back then.
I have prayed, cried, prayed and cried some more over these very issues and
finally I feel God has answered my prayers with your articles. All the
studying I have done in the past 5 years has always led me to being able to
see their side more so than the mainline Christian side. I have never
studied so much about various issues in the Bible as much as I have these
past few years (which is certainly a good thing!), yet I felt I knew my
Bible pretty well before that! Obviously, God had some other things for me
to deal with before he would give me the concrete answers I was searching
for. I have only always wanted to please God in all things...even the
little things, that's all. So, this has been quite an ongoing struggle for
me...Again, whoever you are, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and
know that God put you here for me right here right now. Keep up His work.
In Christ's love,
Kim

Comment: Dear Friend, A balance is compromise; and if
you are in the middle of the road you get hit from both sides, sounds like
you are more theorized than sanctified, don’t teach your damnable doctrine
of compromise; its people like you that are the reason people dress like
whores and whoremongers.

Comment: Hello Folks:
I really enjoyed the article on the woman wearing pants
issue. I TOTALLY agree with everything said. Over the years I have been
judged by so-called Christians for wearing pants. They have always taken me
to that verse in Deuteronomy. Not only did they not like me to wear pants,
that wouldn't allow me in their house if I didn't wear a dress. The same
people found it O.K. to watch Rated R movies in my presence. The bible
clearly talks about what we set before our eyes. Anyhow, I appreciate this
article very much. It clears up a lot of unanswered questions in my mind.
I appreciate you posting it. God bless you all! Jessie

Comment: I really appreciate the fact that in this
article you have not used your opinion. Instead you have used the scripture.
You took the Greek language to explain the meaning of the words and broke
down their meanings in our English use of them. This has been very helpful
to me in my studies. Thanks!

Comment: I truly appreciate your article "Holiness,
Standards and Sin." I grew up in a UPC holiness church and was raised to
follow rules and serve a judging god of thou shalt not's. I am just now
learning to live in the true freedom of Christ and have an actual
relationship with God. You couldn’t have said it better, now I am focusing
on what is on the inside (fruits of the spirit etc..) Ii only wish everyone
could be free from the bondage of legalism and realize that God is a loving,
caring God. A great book is "Breaking the Bondage of Legalism" by Neil T

Comment: UNBELIEVABLE! I am currently in UPC (United
Pentecostal Church). However, I have ALWAYS been troubled about all the
requirements set forth for the ladies. I have studied and prayed for God to
show me if these things were really necessary. I also studied about the
dress in the Bible days and knew that the only difference was trim, color,
etc. I only wish more people would get this revelation. I believe it's
keeping UPC from having the growth and revival that God wants to send!
Thanks so much!!!!!

it is talking about homosexuals. You are religious and the religious people
are the ones that crucified Jesus.

Comment: I am currently a member of the ALJC, A large
holiness, oneness movement. Your articles have changed my mind about a lot
of things. I desperately want more truth and want to find a church that
holds to some core truths without all the religiosity. I am in a very
difficult situation. My father in law is my pastor. I love him but no longer
agree with some of his teaching.
